A hearing on the Uniform Domestic Violence Report Form for New Mexico law enforcement is scheduled for a Senate Judiciary hearing today, and is facing some opposition. This form will vastly improve law enforcement response to domestic violence by including a lethality assessment to distinguish the dangerousness of the domestic incident, and creating an improved standard to domestic violence investigations. According to Sharon Pino, DV Czar, this bill will take "extraordinary efforts" to get passed.
What you can do:
Call the members of the committe (see below) in support of the bill
Attend the hearing in support of the bill TODAY at 2:00 p.m. (or 1 hour after Senate floor session if it ends later than 1pm) in room 321 at the Roundhouse
Sign the CCRC letter of support for the Domestic Violence bills in front of the legislature this session HERE
